Faculty Textbook Requests

First Day of Class Digital Programs

First Day of Class programs make it possible for every student to have access to their course materials on the first day of class so they never fall behind waiting for a book to arrive. Students choose to participate in the program and benefit from lower charges for the course materials. Students pay for the course materials through their student account.

Submit Course Material Requests

Please submit your course material requests to the Textbooks email [email protected]

How It Works

Once you've submitted your course materials to us, we'll get to work on sourcing your requests. If we run in to any issues like out of print editions or limited availability, we'll contact you to decide how to proceed. Once your textbooks have been successfully sourced and are ready for students to buy, they'll appear on our online bookstore by course name and number. Students can order their textbooks directly from us, but will also see options to order from trusted third party sellers.

New link for Course Materials purchasing will be available the week of 08/12/2024

How to Direct Your Students to Book Buying

We don't stock textbooks on shelves in the store. Being online-only allows us to offer the lowest possible prices for students and a better selection of format options like used copies, rentals, and digital. Students who need their books for the first day of class should prepare to order their books before the start of the semester. The online bookstore will be open in the weeks leading up to the semester's start.

Course packets printed by Carnegie Mellon and i-clickers will still be available in-store. Students can purchase them on the lower level of the store. If you'd like i-clickers for your course, please request them by emailing [email protected] with the estimated enrollment for your course.

What Information to Submit

Please provide us with:

  • Course Number and Name
  • Estimated Enrollment
  • Your Contact Information
  • Book Name, ISBN, Necessity (required, recommended, optional), and if you're OK with us recommending a digital version of the title if available (please do this for all titles)
  • Peripheral Items (recommended calculator, i-clicker, additional purchases necessary outside of traditional books)
  • If you're NOT using a book for your course, let us know! We'll list this so students have a heads up before they place their other book orders.
